Does Visualization Work?

a.m. or p.m.?

Shouldn't the times be 5:00 PST and 8:00 EST?

Sorry, just edited it!

darn it, can't make it. i'll visualize from afar.

[1] I agree.
[2] still reads 5:00 p.m. EST, 8:00 p.m. EST

I will be visualizing at 8:00 p.m. EST. Good luck!

Sounds good to me, but while ev1 is at it, could you please visualize me winning the lottery Friday night? Just kidding, I think.

LOL, I kinda wish I'd picked different puzzles for tomorrow night now.

So what is the average Tanga traffic right now?
And what increase in Tanga traffic will be considered a "success" in that it is likely to have spiked as a result of this visualization and not just random fluctuation?

And then can we truly test the hypothesis the next night by thinking no one visits Tanga and seeing the decline in traffic?

Still - a flawed experiment in that anything positive that happens will be selectively remembered (while all the bad things won't) leading to a spurious correlation when it is causation that needs to be proven and defined.

Can you guess....I won't be participating.

But for all those who want to try....Have fun!

I'm going to visualize that TangaMonkey is responding to my Tangagram of Jan 20th!

[8] I'm waiting for a response from TangaJoe since Feb 5th.

have you ever read this? Great little book, quick read.

http://www.asamanthinketh.net/download.htm

http://www.blkfr8r.com/books/BFP_Books_Five.html

has the booklet as a PDF. And doesn't require any sign-in first.

This isn't really serious, is it? I mean...well...

Hey, I can break away from my Bones to think about Tanga for a minute. Why not... In the name of science... or something.

EDIT: Ack! No Bones for the next few weeks! Stupid American Idol.

Yeah, this should work as well as praying does.

IF I remember I will do this...why? you ask? because I can't think of a valid reason to say no....my skepticism is not a reason, it is an excuse, so....

I'll see you there.

"I!"

...don't think so.

EYE

why not

Sounds like an interesting irrational experiment. I'm in! I'll be visualizing from the gym though.

!

I

I'll visualize Agricola for under $30 on Tanga tonight.

I will visualize roads and boats for under $30.

Try visualizing putting together a business plans rather than depending on wishful thinking and magic.
You may get some results from your request but it’s more likely to come from current users spreading the word then psychic energy drawing new people to the site.

Good luck

Aye

Aye Aye TangaMonkey!!

"I"!

[24] I'm not looking at this thinking it's going to bring in hundreds of thousands of new people, this is just for fun! More and more I keep hearing people talking about visualization so I thought it would be an interesting experiment with all the Tanganites to try. I do have stats for past weeks, so we can see what happens over the next couple of days and see if it helps! I understand that there are a lot of variables that might affect traffic over the days that might affect this.

Anyhoo, has anyone had any positive experiences with visualization? or thinking of something, and then having those things pop up in your life?

Here is a crazy example which doesn't really mean anything:
I was getting ready for bed as my wife and I were going to watch Nick and Nora's infinite playlist (we got about 20 min in and turned it off as we'd rather sleep!). When I was getting ready and brushing my teeth, I thought of this old college roommate of mine (20 years ago) who used to date this Jewish girl and I remember him calling her a JAP (jewish American princess.) I thought "that is a totally random thought" as I hadn't thought of this guy for years, let alone some random statement he mentioned. I hadn't heard of that term before and probably hadn't heard it since.

So we turn on the movie and within 15 minutes, the main character calls the girl he is with a JAP (jewish american pricess!) I just thought that was the most random and weird thing that this would happen...

What does it mean? I have absolutely no idea! :-)

"I"

I'm in.

I.........am in! why not?!

eye, I'm in :)

Is it working yet?

Well, my mom always believed in mind over matter (to a certain degree, of course). I guess it's not quite the same as visualization. But she would "refuse" certain things, for instance a burn. If she bumped her arm against the oven rack, she would refuse it. She kept telling herself, "I will not get a burn" and it worked. I always made fun of it, so on the odd occasion when I would get hurt and she'd tell me to refuse it, it never worked for me.

Yes, my mum used to "growl" as she put it at any bodily malfunction. A burn is a good example, she would growl at it and go on about her business. Burn was just not there any more. How did the exercise go yesterday?

Whatever you call it, and as stupid as it sounds, it actually works. The best part is that it's free.

it's just karma, man.

[24] lighten up man. Everyone visualizes winning the lottery, don't mean they think it's going to make them win, it's just fun to think about.

[38] Yeah, but everybody visualizes themselves winning the lottery. If everybody visualized one specific person, there'd be a lot more energy behind that.

Does this remind anyone else of the Doctor Who episode called "Last of the Time Lords"...?

Hey, the more people who try to get by on "visualization" the more success I'll have by actually doing work. Knock yourselves out.

Did you perchance get a copy of The Secret? I wouldn't want to plug the book (or the idea) because I think raising the idea of positive thinking to the level of mysticism is absurd and defeats the purpose of positive thinking. But you might enjoy this review. Warning: slightly adult material.

[42] That's just wrong. I like it.

[40] Nice one. Does that mean Tanga has satellites in orbit?

[44] Yes, except instead of the Archangel Network, it'll be the Tanga Network.

One of my favorite books as a teenager was "Psycho-Cybernetics" by Maxwell Maltz. There were a number of scientific studies that indicated the brain could not distinguish between events that actually occurred and events that were vividly imagined. An example was basketball free throws... split into 3 groups. One group practiced 100 free throws a day. One group vividly imagined shooting 100 free throws a day. And a control group did neither one. The group that actually practiced and the group that vividly imagined practicing both improved by the same amount (a not statistically insignificant amount). The control group did not improve. A number of such experiments were documented.

If you haven't read this book before, you might want to give it a read. While some of the material may be a bit dated, it is packed not only with data but actual exercises and techniques.

TangaMonkey,

The new deal opportunities feature is very good! I really wish this may ramp up more business for you guys.
If I may suggest, you could have a deals section for games only.

[47] I would love to but I don't know if we have enough product that is available to do a daily deal 24 hours a day for 365 days. I'll have to think about it a bit more and see if it is feasible...

So how'd it go? We (my partner and I) helped-and she's pretty good at this sorta thing.

Yeah, how was the result of this? I didn't find out about it until too late, but curious if you got lots of traffic...
