Hey Tanganites! A month or two back I picked a specific evening where you were to sit and visualize tons and tons of people coming to Tanga. I wanted to see if visualization worked and the results were astonishing. Looking back on all of those days, over a period of time, the number of visitors grew 100% from the previous time frames.
Let’s try something else and see what happens! People are always complaining about how they aren’t seeing the types of products that they want to buy on Tanga. Lets all visualize on Friday evening, June 5th, at 7:00 p.m. PST (10:00 p.m. EST) vendors contacting Tanga to sell their items. If you want more games, think of game vendors physically typing out an email to us and requesting to sell product. If you want cool electronics, think of those items being offered to us.
If we can get double the traffic in a day through visualization, this could work too. In fact, what I will do is put something in the heading of the product that shows if an item came through this exercise or not. Any item coming in from 7:00 p.m. tomorrow night until late next week will be labeled as a “visualization” item.
I know that we may have items come in that would have come in anyway, but I will know if there is an increase of activity!
Let’s give it a shot!
Would any of you be interested in creating a theme and designing a t-shirt around that theme? We could do have all sorts of themed contests like favorite board games, board game designers, political, holidays, etc. The winner could get a cut of the profits from the sale of the t-shirt. People could design the t-shirts and we could have a contest for the top 3 shirts and those would be printed.
Anyone interested? How would you like to see it setup and implemented?
Click here to go to the Amazon page!
Put the item in your cart, and then apply for their Visa card. Voila!
Thanks Inrr for the tip!

Where? Where is it? Here it is!
Ok, so here are the results. I’m actually quite stunned by this.
Friday February 20th we had 4167 unique visitors
Friday February 27th we had 7216 unique visitors
This is almost double the amount of visitors from week to week. Usually when I look at these stats, the amount is pretty close week to week – we NEVER see these types of increases. On Saturday, the amount stayed about the same week over week from the previous week.
So we can either explain it by saying that visualization works and all of those extra people came because of the positive thinking of our loyal Tanganites or there were multiple other factors which I just don’t know about. Maybe it was the type of product we offered that day? Maybe someone linked to us that have never linked to us before? But overall, I’m pretty shocked by these results.

Each coupon book has 4 BOGO’s, 2- 25% off coupons, 1 coupon good for free dessert , and 1 coupon good for a free order of pancake puppies. Each Denny’s in the US received 1,000 of these coupon books to hand out to guests on Tuesday who order a free Grand Slam.
Per Denny’s Corporate every store also received 500 Grand Slam rain check coupons. Denny’s has instructed each manger to hand these rain checks out good for a free Grand Slam to any guest who can’t wait.
Denny’s spent 3 million on the Super Bowl ad, and tons more on a full page ad this coming Monday in USA Today. They are taking this very seriously and instructing all stores to staff as if it’s a major Holiday and for the staff to be as friendly as humanly possible.
Just to put everyone at rest, Tanga is NOT going away if we can’t find a buyer! It’s still going to exist and in fact, we are adding a lot of new features and cool things to buy over the next few weeks. So don’t lose faith in us, as we are still going to move forward into 2009 and beyond!
The best things you can all do to support us is to talk about Tanga on the Internet, tell your friends and family about us, and buy something when it’s a good deal and fits your budget…
Take care and have a great February 1st tomorrow!
The TangaMonkey
It has been a great and incredible two years at Tanga! We have seen our user base grow from nothing to over 35,000 registered users. There have been over a million puzzles solved and over 70,000 orders. We have seen our Tanganites participate and upload thousands of incredible puzzles. The community has grown tremendously and for that we thank all of you!
As for right now, TangaMonkey is at the point where he wants to focus on just one of his business ventures and for this reason, we are putting Tanga up for sale. Tanga could truly be a very nice value-add addition to any Web 2.0 business. It could also be a great addition to a distributor who has discounted products already and who needs a new gateway to move product through. Or it could be just one of our users who loves Tanga and wants to take over the business and grow it to the next level! We will be very easy to work with on terms of the deal and we could offer seller financing as well.
If you are interested in looking at this business deal and have the means to put together a sale, please contact me at sales at tanga dot com.
Regards,
TangaMonkey

If you have the (must-have) Google App on your iPhone, open it up and go to the settings tab. Once there scroll down to the bottom and swipe your finger up on the screen about 20 times and you will get a “bells and whistles” tab which allows you to change your sounds to Monkeys (just like TangaMonkey!) and do a few more useful things!
Have fun!
Go here to download all 25 Holiday songs for Free!
There are some goodies in here and they are all free until Christmas day!
Great job everyone on all of your writing. Joe is working hard on doing some cool stuff with this over the next few weeks that will make it even more fun for you and our Tanganites!
I wanted to send you to a link where you can learn how to use a markup language called Textile that we use on our Web site to do things like bold an item, etc. You can practice on that page as well. That way, you can make your descriptions really stand out from the crowd!
Thanks again and have a great Holiday!
I love this article.
Seattle paralyzed by chance of snow
Aiieeeee, we might get snow! Everyone stay home!
Update: Found this video of cars sliding down pretty minor hill in Seattle. Perhaps it’s a good idea everyone stayed home.
Ok guys, over Thanksgiving I sat down to play Agricola. Well, actually to read through the rules and figure HOW to play Agricola. I must be losing my rule reading/start playing intelligence since my old days of Uberplay as I sat there reading it and wondering what in the world was going on. I read through it twice and couldn’t figure it out. Granted, I was recovering from Strep Throat and felt loopy anyway but still!!!
Are there any rule helps out there that I can download to aid me in getting this to the table during the Christmas Holiday?
Thanks!
Your “dumb” TangaMonkey
Just go to this link and enjoy – only for the next 24 hours or so…

I’ve been noticing how incredible the Amazon Daily Deals are lately and thought it would be good to give our users an easy way to link to these deals and take advantage of them. With this recession going on, it’s always good to save money during the Holiday Season. If you see something you like, click the link and purchase – it will help out Tanga a bit with a small referral fee too!
Happy Early Holidays!
TangaMonkey
The TangaMonkey is in Mexico for his kid’s “Fall Break” and I won’t be able to see the BYU game tomorrow night. Will anyone be watching this on VS tonight and have a SlingBox hooked up? If so, would you mind me watching the game with you? You can email me at jeremy at tanga dot com with your login info! I’ll even throw in 100 Tanga Points! Hola…
It has just come my attention that Postum is a thing of the past, it always was a thing from the past, but now it is a thing OF the past.
This is a terrible, terrible situation!
It’s cold tonight here in St. George, and I want to snuggle up and sip a nice, warm, full bodied, and slightly sweet beverage before I catch the night train, but alas it’s not to be :(
In weaker times such a development would drive me to drink – coffee, I mean! Jeez, what did you think?
So here’s where you come in – the first Tanganite to send me a jar of Postum gets 100 Tanga Points. It has to be the blue label, it has to be unopened, and it has to be unexpired.
Go get ‘em team!
The wifey is heading down to Scottsdale AZ with some girlfriends to “escape” – whatever that means! :-) I mean common’, my mom had 7 of us and she never “escaped!” LOL
So I’m taking the kidos up to SLC for the weekend to visit some family, go on some rollercoasters (if the rain doesn’t come) and eat some good food. (Red Mango, Brick Oven.)
I will have a 4.5 hour drive with three kids under 9. Do you have any suggestions for me to keep my sanity and to keep them busy and not fighting?
Hey Tanganites – what do you think of the bailout issue and how it’s affecting the stock market and the economy? Do you think we need government interventions in the market and if so, is the current plan the right one? Or should we let these over-extended institutions fail on their own and let capitalism work alone?
Also, how is this downturn in the economy affecting your spending habits? And do sites like Tanga become more important in your purchasing decisions now, and for the holidays?
Well, summer. It was good knowing you.
In Seattle, we see the sun for maybe two months a year. I try to take advantage of it as much as possible during the months of July and August, to the detriment of my beloved Tanga.com.
Unfortunately, Seattle won’t see sun for another 10 months, so I can get to work again! I’m actually looking forward to it. Gotta get that awful sandal tan line off my feet.

To you Grams – I love you and will miss you terribly.
Now that the weather is finally shaping up in Seattle, I have been taking my new friend to the dog park and having fun in the sun. My dog is a 5 month old blue dapple Dachshund named Lily. Anybody else have a dog? Post pics!
Also, let me know if you have any training suggestions! This is my first dog (didnât have one growing up) and I have been learning along the way.
I was in Costa Rica all last week and had a couple of interesting things happen.
1) Monkeys really do fling their poo. And they have pretty good aim as well. We had monkeys outside of the house the entire trip and it was amazing.
2) My friends and I went down to a hotel for dessert one night. This place is in the middle of nowhere. We were eating and my friend looked behind him and sitting on a table was a copy of my Uberplay’s High Society game that people could play while eating. The only other games they had there was Rubikub. I was completely shocked as you can imagine. I would be shocked if I saw the game in the US but in the middle of Costa Rica – just bizarre.
Guy is stuck in an elevator for 41 hours. Time lapsed video
Article about that experience, and about elevators in general
Dunno how I’d do in that situation. I hope I would have a notepad and pen with me, then I’d be ok.
I’m giving Dinners Ready a spin. It’s not terribly expensive, about $35 per person per week of prepared dinners. (of course, you could cook your own for much cheaper, but with the baby, I’m feeling lazy)
Anyone have any experiences with services like that where you “outsource” part of your normal routine/chores to others?
Based on my reading of this article, I got a new camera, and I am enjoying it.
I got a Canon Digital Rebel Xt, here’s a review.
I just got the base camera set, and then for lens I got a Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM Standard & Medium Telephoto Lens. The lens cost almost as much as the camera!
8 GB compact flash cards can be bought for $37 now at newegg.com.
You can see some of the pictures I took on my flickr page. I don’t know anything about photography and this camera is such a huge step up from the Point and Shoot one I used to have. The pictures I’m taking don’t suck quite as much.
So, camera talk! What’s good reading for beginner photographists? What have you found useful?
So here it is.
I’m still on a baby high this week, my son Dashell (Dash) Clay Van Dyk was born last Friday (Pi Day!) and he is awesome. He even already has his own gmail and facebook account, got to start them off right, you know.
One of the things I’m looking of doing next is writing a facebook application for Tanga. There is one already written by the good man Scott Alden from BGG, but it’s pretty limited. For you facebook users, what would you like to see in the Tanga application?
Are there any other ways that we could integrate Tanga content into other sites?
