I received UPS notification via email regarding a shipment but the name/address are not mine. Please advise.
[1] That's likely another of the hiccups. You will get another e-mail with the correct information in it.
Beating FedEx rates is one thing...beating FedEx shipping time is another...
[3] agreed.
If we are getting sub-par service for these rates, is it really worth it?
[5] Good point.
UPS refuses to leave packages at my house, so I have to drive 30 minutes across town to pick them up every time...it drives me nuts!
mrdehate, I know EXACTLY how you feel. UPS drives me nuts as well. They're customer service sucks, they've hung up on me when I was trying to find a package, and they only deliver on business days! SO what happens when all the Tanganites are at work and they're packages arrive? UPS doesn't leave them, they require signatures most of the time, then they give a 4 HOUR estimate of when they'll be back next time, so even if you use your lunch hour to try and be home, you still miss out on the other 3 hours when they'll prolly be there. Sorry Tanga, I've bought a lot from you in the past, but this change will SERIOUSLY cause me to GREATLY hesitate when deciding on future purchases from you. Honestly, you may have just lost my business, because I really can't continue to deal with UPS. I don't like to have to pay for shipping on something I'll have to pick up myself, I might as well buy it full price at the store, it'll end up costing the same.
So if it costs you guys less to ship, does that mean our shipping prices go down as well, or are you keeping the extra saved money in-house as opposed to passing the savings on to your customers?
odd - I have no problems with UPS, packages can be dropped at the door, and I get stuff extremely fast. I'm in Illinois, and the majority of the stuff I receive is in 2 days. The only thing that I don't like about UPS is that the occasional box can be whacked around pretty hard. That's definitely not the norm though.
I have to agree with the above sentiments regarding UPS. I've had nothing but problems with them, and will definitely think twice before ordering from Tanga again.
You can call UPS and sign up for a no sign policy. They will then just drop any package off.
Odds are savings are less than a dollar per package, so don't expect any grandly reduced shipping costs. I've spent a lot of time dealing with UPS (I work for a Mail Boxes Etc/UPS Store), and unless you have an international or billing problem, its smooth sailing.
Side note - does this mean my order for Feudo is probably on its way? :)
Everyone has their loved and hated courier service, I'm just happy Tanga keeps their eyes open and goes with the best rates.
I've never had any problems with UPS. Don't get me started on the troubles I've had with FEDEX and their customer support.
Flabber23 & others; Can't you get packages delivered to your work place?
I am very happy about the change, UPS comes to our apartment complex twice a day if needed while Fedex often rides around with my package on their truck for 2-3 days.
Does that mean the orders I placed at the beginning of the month will FINALY be shipped?
Not that it would be in time for the gifts I had planned on giving.
UPS is usually good to me. The driver actually walks around my house and puts the packages (w/no sig.) at my back door.
Haha, yeah right [9]!
Too bad it wasn't USPS. Then I could actually order from this site. As is, UPS can't deliver to my address, which is ridiculous.
Anyone else think that tanga really should offer a choice to it's customers? (i.e. UPS & USPS)
I ordered something on 1 dec and still have not received my package. The tracking numbers are invalid. I could really use some help here.
Who cares what shipping company it is if we don't have combined shipping? And yes, a choice to the customers would be nice, you could easily setup business accounts with both UPS and FedEx (dunno how USPS works), but properly routing the packages to the right carrier would probably involve a lot of extra work. I've seen sites that have a default carrier with good rates, but charge a nominal fee above shipping (i.e., handling) to use an alternate carrier.
I orderd my product on 12/01, today is 12/18 and the ups tracking number says no information available. What's up with that ?
[19] Agreed! A choice would be nice. UPS shipping sucks. My packages are usually damaged via UPS. I LOVE FedEx, though. Fast service and the packages are always in good condition. USPS works well too. Their priority mail boxes are strong!
Look Monkey...everyone is as excited as you. :)
Look you can't please everyone... Some people love UPS, some love FedEx. I like things about both. And haven't had any real issues either way. Newegg switched to UPS for their basic service and I haven't noticed a hiccup. Same with other services. It would be nice if Tanga is saving money to pass *some* of the savings onto the customer (charge $6 for shipping instead of 6.99) But maybe it'll keep them from raising rates again for a while. Or give us better discounts on some of the games we love!
Either way, whats good for Tanga, will hopefully be good for us...
For those of us lucky enough to have accounts with both shippers it would be great if you would let us use our own account numbers on the shipping. I know there are handling costs but it is possible that I have a better discount on shipping costs.
Now I'm not so happy. My order from Dec 10th has had delivery rescheduled from the 24th to the 29th. I know it's the holidays but nearly 3 weeks and being bumped back? FedEx may have been the better choice.
[27] I'm in the exact same boat. Mine was pushed from 24th to 29th.
Just talked to UPS; I might get lucky by arranging a pick-up if I track the package, but apparently, even though nowhere anywhere does it say "no ground deliveries on the 26th"... there are no ground deliveries on the 26th.
This is a very inconvenient time of year for a shipping change.
That's too bad. UPS wont give a 2nd thought to leave a pkg out in the rain bcz driver isn't responsible. FedEx drivers are. Not only that, FedEx ground has always been faster in my experience. Free enterprise vs union . take your pick. Anything to save a buck these days i guess...
You've switched to UPS! You didn't need to tell me.
I'VE ALREADY RECEIVED MY FIRST SMASHED BOX WITH DAMAGED MERCHANDISE INSIDE.
It's a UPS specialty. Get stronger cartons, and learn to pack them better.
This site is a joke! I ordered a Sansa on the 10th and still no shipping status. No word from anyone! I have called... I have emailed... I have prayed to heaven above! Nothing... There is no way that it will be here in time for Christmas and now I'm having to scramble for another option at a much higher price.
I'm a very unhappy camper right now and I am going to tell everyone on the web that will listen to me to avoid this site like the plague! This site is getting no stars where allowed and only 1 star ratings where that is the lowest rating.
The customer service is beyond disastrous! What's the point of the "tangagram" when no one ever responds to it??? What good is a phone number that only goes to voice mail? What good is service@tanga.com when no one answers it.
Everyone keep an eye out for the reviews that will turn off future buyers from this store.
I seem to be in the same sinking boat with most of you! I ordered a sansa also on the 1 of this month and can't seem to get any results either! Mine was also suppossed to be a Christmas gift! This will be my last time for ordering from this site also!
I also am waiting for the service vaccuum to respond to my tangagram re: my Sansa order on the 10th.
So much for that big christmas gift! Will someone from Tanga respond to any of the tangragrams I've sent?
Does switching to UPS mean that I still won't get my Sansa?
A response from someone from Tanga would be greatly appreciated!!!!
My account has not been charged for the Sansa, so the blasted thing has not even shipped. Now I'm having to spend $100 for a refurb apple so that I can get it before Christmas! Thanks for nothing Tanga!
that's exactly what I did... can't wait for my refurb nano that I ordered today and will receive tomorrow!
On the up side, I got my stuff yesterday and unsmashed. UPs may have been being conservation in it's shipping estimates. Good luck to all though.
UPS -- BOO!
Yup, thats a bone head move. I was gonna buy a flashlight, but not now
Honestly, I always check shipping options on every online site I purchase from. I cannot stand UPS,
Has anyone complained about FedEx? We pay for it so why get cheaper rates?
Looking at numbers is a good thing, not using discretion = lost customers
Quit crying everybody. Have it shipped to your address. If your product is damaged, take it up with Tanga, that's what I've done.
Tanga is freaking great, I've been buying craploads from them for 2 years now, and have had no problems.
You are purchasing online from a company that explicity states:
"Shipping generally occurs 7-10 business days after we get your order"
So don't throw a pity party if during the HOLIDAY season shipping gets thrown out of whack, especially with a new carrier changeover.
Mmm, 6-business-day shipping. My package has been in 6 cities! Go UPS go... yeah, maybe a magazine purchase in the future, but with UPS as a carrier and no combined shipping... I think it's time to drop notification of new products (if you offered notification of new magazines, I might take you up on that).
Late, but I am going to add my .02 cents in. UPS is a company that really doesn't care about its end customer. I've heard stories about them wine and dinning the company shipping and offering them great rates, and then they won't honor the rates. Or delivering the package to someone in a town 50-60 miles away from where it should have been delivered, and having no information on the address that it was delivered to (and this was a package with items that could not be replaced). Or delivering someone elses package to me, then losing mine ($500+ of computer parts). When found, they called and I was no longer home, so they were to leave it at the neighbors, when I get home, hours later, it is sitting on my porch. Or not delivering my packages for 3 days, because the guy can't find my place (easy to see, well marked, not sure what that was about).
For me, it isn't the time it takes to get here, which is usually longer, but it is the fact that they screw up so often. And their customer service really sucks.
I am sad that the change has been made, I don't feel that it helps in the long run.

Tanga has switched to UPS because they’ve beat Fedex’s rates. We are still working out the tracking/showing shipping info on our site as Joe has had to reorganize everything from Fedex to UPS code. Your orders have almost certainly shipped if it has been more than 4-5 days and they are on their way. TangaJoe will be working to get this updated ASAP!
Thanks for your continued support…
