One could argue that the 4th clue is somewhat ambiguous as there are at least 2 words within the framework of this puzzle that fit the bill. And the one that the puzzle maker DIDN'T use is the one that made the most sense to me, thus producing a secondary clue that made no sense.
[3] In all cases, I used the most common combinations. For #4, the first combination has more than 2 million Google hits, and the second combination has more than 20 million hits.
[7] That may be so, but if you've never heard of the first combination (which I had not), then the second combination wouldn't jump out at you. All in all, there are 3 possible choices for the second combination....all of which have viable first combinations...which probably come more readily to the mind.

Another good one Philana thanks! Just wish I wasn't caught up in a movie and got here on time. Star Trek was worth missing a few points for though!

[11] it's a color just like the rest and the slip thingy is what you would get if you were fired or what you would get if you won the car race.

Clever, Philana. I only wish I didn't have to take my mom to work between the puzzles. I would have gotten it faster, dang it! :)

American spelling of 6 slowed me down a bit. A shame that the letter to Tanga happened to be the ambiguous one.
